The Bear Necessities
"The Bear Necessities is Brown University’s premier all-suspendered a cappella group. Specializing in all-suspendered, all-spectacular vocal performance since 1992, the Bears are a TTBB singing group who perform at a variety of events on-campus and off-campus events. With our energetic performance style and unique sound, we aim to blend quality music with exciting delivery to spread the “bearluv” and create a one of a kind experience for our audience. We work hard to produce live performances and studio recordings of the highest quality. Of the 7 studio albums we have released over the past 29 years of our history, Visions (2016) is our most recent work, and is available on Spotify and Apple Music. We have had the chance to showcase our talent to campuses and audiences from London to New Orleans (our most recent tour being Spring Break 2018 to Quebec, eh!). Our performances have earned us tracks on a number of a cappella compilation albums and awards in a cappella invitationals. However, though we certainly take our performance quality seriously, the Bears is, first-and-foremost, a family. We work hard to cultivate a fun and welcoming rehearsal space, such that all our members find a space to be their truest Bear self, from the Papa to the cubs. That companionship shines through in our fun, high-energy performances, and certainly exemplifies everything it means to be a member of The Bear Necessities. "
